This summer marks the second year in which Outright Vermont and YWCA Vermont will bring a unique camp experience to queer and questioning youth from all across the country with Camp Outright.

Camp Outright is a week-long, residential, traditional summer camp experience for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and allied (LGBTQQA) youth between the ages of thirteen and twenty-two. Tuition includes meals, lodging, program materials and transportation assistance for Vermont participants and is offered on a sliding fee scale.

Youth will be able to participate in leadership development activities; in outdoor physical activities such as canoeing, ultimate Frisbee, swimming, yoga, and tennis; and get creative in theater, video production, camp chorus, and design programs.

Adam Gregory Catanzarite, Outright Vermont’s Youth Coordinator, noted, “for a week this summer, youth will not have to worry about having access to a safe and stable living environment, hot meals and a supportive community where each identity is not only recognized, but celebrated.”  “It was only a week but I had experiences and met people who will last a life time,” recalls a Camp Outright participant from last year.

Camp Outright will take place August 12-18 at YWCA Camp Hochelaga in South Hero, Vermont. Registration is now open. For registration and additional information please visit www.campoutright.org.

Camp Outright is a collaborative project between Outright Vermont and YWCA Vermont, and has received funding from the Samara Foundation and the Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation.
