We are ALL Superstars!
On Saturday, May 19th, queer and allied youth from all over Vermont traveled to BFA St. Albans high school for the 6th annual Queer & Allied Youth Summit. The day was filled with workshops, networking, a queer youth speakout in downtown St. Albans, and a queer youth prom (the 12th hosted by Outright Vermont) that evening.
During the afternoon, youth set priorities for Outright Vermont’s work for the next year. Out of dozens and dozens of ideas, the youth settled on three:
1. Provide more resources and services for queer youth that are homeless.
2. Collaborate with more community spaces around Vermont for queer youth events and programs.
3. Produce more queer proms/dance parties for youth during the year.
“The day was a huge success. The turn out was amazing. The workshops were interesting and meaningful for youth and educators. And the youth…the youth were inspiring in so many ways,” said Melissa Murray, Outright Vermont’s Executive Director.
